the site
This site describes a means to reduce the wasteful bandwidth and infrastructure costs of Video on Demand, while improving the operational immediacy that customers require.
A multiple thousand-fold improvement in bandwidth utilization and server efficiency can be achieved with the methods described here. Technical drivers including the relevance of IPv6, 5G and ATSC 3.0 are discussed. Economic benefits and barriers are examined. Strawman embodiments are provided.
Significant capital and operational cost savings can be achieved for Network Operators & Content Service Providers. Every party within the VoD ecosystem gains advantage or opportunity.
The author submits this site as an inspirational starting point for a standardization effort to be undertaken by an accredited standards body.

Why is Ted working on this? A few reasons…
- The inefficiencies of VoD are so great that change is necessary.
- The potential cost saving are so great that change is inevitable.
- The technology to substantially improve VoD is available today. The financial opportunities are substantial, and have yet to be fully explored.
- The Content Service Providers, ISPs, and play-out device vendors will not individually start this kind of initiative. Multiple proprietary solutions would incite self-defeating chaos. This would serve no firm’s self interest.
- Collectively these stake holders cannot work together without a legally sheltered collaboration. This is a Call for Action to make such a collaboration to happen.
- The only way to predict the future is to influence it.
