A Common Framework

Adoption of a methodology such as described on this site requires a well-established common framework; a framework mutually available to all stake holding parties.  From CSPs to independent CDN operators, ISP operators of all Tiers, to STB vendors, to TV Manufacturers.  All these stake holders have efficiencies to extract and opportunities to exploit.

Such a common framework must provide a method for all participating Content Service Providers to share equal access for multicast transfers to Subscriber Client devices, without favor or advantage to any Content Service Provider. This framework must include constraints to assure equal and isolated access.  Included in these constraints should be:

  1. No CSP would be able to access another CSP’s assets, metadata, or other metrics from any subscriber’s client device.

  2. No CSP would have access to client devices without an active customer authorized subscription.

  3. Each CSP would have equal quantitative, and qualitative access to Client device storage memory resources.

Still, no one stake holder can achieve these gains alone. It must be done in concert with the other stake holders.  Leaving any stakeholder out of such a collaboration, intentionally or otherwise, would quickly become a legal matter, with potential charges of restraint of trade.
